British Windscreen Safety Council
This section covers how the Council operates as a trade organisation and how to become a BS AU 242b:2022 compliant windscreen repair company or technician. Having attained the required standard the Council will support you maintain the standard.

Council Registration
Companies who have undertaken training with an assessed outcome and have certification after publication of BS au 242:2022 can register for Council accreditation. The Council will register you and your company upon all requested supporting information being supplied and evidenced. Once authenticated The Council will issue your registration number.

Council Verification
Claims of BSI compliance can be easily checked by contacting the British Windscreen Safety Council with a company,technicians name or Council registration number. All claims of BSI compliance which can not be authenticated directly with the company technician would be reported to the regional Trading Standards Service for investigation into false compliance claims

Council Requirements
For companies or individuals new or old to the industry training and assessment will need to be undertaken with an assessed outcome evidenced which demonstrates both claimed compliance and competence to BS AU 242b:2022. Periodic compliance checks could be undertaken to ensure standards are being maintained whilst being claimed.

Time Served Technicians
As time served technicians the Council understands how you may have been frustrated by not being able to align your skills to a BSI accredited training course. Now,having undertaken accredited training with an assessed outcome you can register for the recognition you deserve. Use the Councils logo online, on your van, social media & your work attire with pride

Training
The Council requirements for training and assessment are that you meet the requirements of 4M.
(Man x Method x Machinery x Material). Following the 4M criteria within BS AU 242b:2022 your commitment will ensure that all round compliance is adhered to by both the person, the repair method, the machinery and the material used.

Time for Change
Vehicle safety has changed with windscreen mounted technologies. British standards have changed to reflect the advancements made by vehicle manufacturers in the last few years. New accredited training will let you embrace change to enable you to become a British Standard compliant windscreen repair technician which you can be proud of.
